It was only a couple of weeks ago that a UK copper was convicted of slapping his missus about, served 6 months in jail for it, then was given his job back on the force when he was released.......Police Academy here we come.

Tried a search but no luck.
The original story was in the Scottish Metro a few days before xmas.......he was convicted of either GBH or ABH (can't remember which), was found guilty and sentenced to 6 months, and upon his release he appealed against his sacking (can't remember on what grounds), won the appeal and got his job back.

Now regardless of whether he was unlawfully sacked or not, you can't have convicted felons working in the police force (for very obvious reasons).
He's not the only one though, the City of London cop that killed that Tom whatsisname bloke during the G20 incident was known to have "anger" issues....known so well in fact he was twice removed from duty before being given the job back which enabled him to strike the blow that was no doubt responsible for poor old Tom popping his clogs.

I think the poor guys name was Ian Tomlinson, was just trying to get home past the demo,s . Wrong place , wrong time.
