I know - another blinking post about my 2.2DTi but could this be the fault?
I sent an email to Essex Turbos yesterday:
Hi,
I have recently bought a Vauxhall Omega 2.2DTi with turbo boost issues, the car was fitted with a new turbo by yourselves a few years ago but unfortunately there was no paperwork to support the new turbo and why it was put into your garage in the first place?
I'm hoping you can shed some light onto why you fitted the car with a new turbo as I need to get to the bottom of this non-boosting issue!
I have attached some pictures of the id tag on the turbo for your reference...
To which I got this reply:
Hi Paul
Thank you for your email.
I am sorry to hear that you have been suffering issues with your vehicle, but please note that we do not offer a garage service and as such we would not have taken the vehicle in or diagnosed any faults with it.
From the pictures you have sent, I can ascertain that this is a turbo that we rebuilt on 13th October 2010. I have not been able to find any specific details regarding the turbo failure, but I can advise that the core was replaced, so the original would likely have been destroyed.
The boosting issues that you mentioned could possibly be due to the variable vanes on the exhaust side being carboned up, which is normally caused by an overfuelling issue. Are the boost issues normally worse when the engine is warm?
We could always take a look at the turbo for you to investigate, but we would need you to have it removed from the vehicle first for us to do this.
Kind regards
Karen
Could this potentially be the issue? Has anyone come across this before? Seems plausible to me but I'm no expert. I've just assumed all along the turbo it's self is fine due to it being fairly new! On speaking to Essex Turbos on the phone a few minutes ago, if I remove the turbo they will collect it and test it for me... Worst case scenario is £350 for a rebuild.
Thoughts....
