Sad day
« on: 20 May 2014, 15:09:35 »

A sad day today as I have said goodbye to my 2.2 CD auto after nearly 5 years and 40,000 miles.  :( :'(  A lovely car to drive and very few problems; never let me down and in daily use for business and pleasure! The last few months have been more problematic with rough running when cold, which we can't get to the bottom of - possibly head gasket on the way out as coolant level has started to drop as well. On the plus side, I have managed to trade the Omega against a two year old Astra SRi Sports Tourer with 3.5k on the clock; a completely different car yet also very comfortable and great to drive with even more ooomph than the Omega. That brings to an end approximately 10 years of Omega ownership in total but I hope to stay on this forum as it's been great fun and very helpful over the years - certainly the best car owners forum I've ever seen.

Rough running and coolant loss does suggest HG, coming up on 10 years ownership on my 2.2  :y

Sounds like you got a brand spankers Astra there, less than 4k on the clock  :o

Yep, looked like a good deal to me. :y  Also, this is from the same dealership where I bought my first car back in 1982 (a mark1 Cavalier) - same guy in the sales office too!

2.0 CDTi and about £13k after the PX.

Your omega was almost certainly a cheap and easy head gasket fix :y
