A tad quicker than an Omega .....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-26350059

Almost twice as quick in fact. :y

But does the Venom have the sheer prestige and the 'wow appeal' of the mighty Vauxhall flagship?....... ::) ::) ::) ::) ;)

Another in a long line of American cars to use the same formula ..

Take one lightweight British car
Throw an enormous displacement V8 in it
Declare success

;D

(It's a Lotus Exige with a GM LS7 chucked in the boot..)

Precisely  :y

You won't see a 1.0 turbo Mondeo doing 270 mph unless you drop it nose first from a plane ;D

Any one been incumbered with one that they wish to donate?

Ah yes, Aaron. Those 'good ol boys' from the mountains of Kentucky (those that are married to their sisters) just  'lurve' a big cubic inch motor. ;D ;D

But to be officially recognised by Guinness World Records the car must make two runs in opposite directions, which the Venom was not allowed to do on Nasa's runway.

"Shucks! now we'll have to fit one of them darn steerin' wheel things like the commies in Europe have. ::)

Actually a hypothetical 474mph if you can keep it nose first :o

Calculated using a few assumptions...

Namely it weighs 1800 kgs, has a drag coefficient of 0.26 and a frontal area of 2m2 ::)

Meant a 1.0 turbo Mondeo rather than displacement  ;D

Someone must have one as a pool car...

It has steering... about 5° of lock and a finely tuned throttle ;D

Not much use in a car park though ::)

No but we have one in a Focus....its truely horrific, Smart car/1.0 Corsa engine noise, jack all torque on the bite point, then a sudden rush of 'a bit of go'.

Its not clocking the miles like the other options in the car park as it seems to be being 'avoided'  ;D

Will any one mind if we arrange for one of Entwoods' understudies shoved it out of the back of a Hercules to see if it will do anything like 270 mph ::)
