Rooney's form for England in big competitions has been woeful in the past. He doesn't strike me as the type to do any better in a hot humid climate either.

I think you are all being somewhat optimistic that :

a) there will be a world cup    and
b) that EU teams won't boycott it.

Have you forgotten about the situation in the Ukraine???

Might actually be for the good. The Russian oligarchs might pull out of UK clubs. We would then be obliged to have cheap home grown talent on £1000 a week Too late for this world cup but they would be about ripe for four years time.
