Mot/aircon
« on: 02 May 2014, 21:12:37 »

Took car for mot today and it passed with no advisories :y I also asked for aircon to be re-gassed, they couldnt get any gas to stay in --leak on low pressure side. Quoted it could be expensive so i didnt bother with leak test or further work , is this a common fault ,ie able to be fixed b myself? thanks for help

Leaks are often due to a failed condenser ie the 'radiator' in fornt of the main coolant rad. Next on the list is the compressor itself & then I had a leak on one of the fill valves (the one at the front that nobody seems to know how it comes off ..... the 'experts' will tell you it's part of the pipe  ??? - it's not) and I also replaced a pressure switch due to a very slight leak. It could be any or all of the above or more  ;)

No harm at all. It's not quite the same as having a car that never had a/c ... but not that much different - you might need to open a window  ;)  ;)  ;)
