Tragic, but when you buy a ticket to a motorsport event it always states that it is dangerous for spectators and by implication the participants. A sad fact for all those who have paid a price for a great sport. :o

This was a shock last night in the Curry house reading oof briefly. Memories of the most spectacular crashes you'll ever see come flooding back where he just got up and walked away. Hard as bloody nails.
And that wheely he did at Assen on a superstock Gsxr having won the race, one hand then one footed, picked it up out of the chicane still in the bend, up the length of the straight and on past the pits, and winning the championship iirc, marked him out as a big talent to the wsb paddock.

Numerous factory rides, but never quite made it big, which was a surprise. Never seemed to have any luck. I'm sure most people remember him getting taken out by another riders tumbling bike at Thruxton. :o

Rip Karl Harris, and Bob Price who died on Monday.

Something of a shock this.I've not seen any coverage of TT this year as been visiting Maureen who's back in hospital.Very sad news indeed, but all the riders know of and accept the risks.

Racing exists to keep it away from public places. Ambulance waiting, all going e same way round, all reasonable precautions taken etc etc. Yes they know the risks.

Doesn't help the pain for those left behind though. Some say they do it because of the danger, not despite.

Death is too high a price though. For me. Tbh.

But then, it's not me competing. We make our choices in life. I just wish they had invented force field body suits or some miraculous piece of tech to keep them alive at least. :(

We are all well aware of the risks in so many things, but the 'it won't happen to me' thoughts are always at play.  :'(

Tend to agree with you there Dr.Gixer indeed death is too high a price and I really do feel for those left behind.I think you're probably correct about the danger aspect too,as no-one makes them race the Island and they go voluntarily surely "because of"the danger must be a large part of the equation, that and as has been said the idea that "it" is always something that happens to the other fellow.Life on the edge I suppose.
