Oops.....it's a MaxiScan,I just presumed that the 3.0 is OBD II  compliant.

Did the paper clip test...got a 73 code,MAF low voltage. Ordered one yesterday as a precaution,glad I did now, many thanks Andy B for the heads up re the scanner,and to every one else who offered advice.  :-* :y
