The low fuel light lottery in the Merc is devilish... both the light comes on and the trip computer goes into reserve mode at 15 litres. Trouble is, instead of range, the display changes to 'Reserve Fuel Level' with a picture of a car being refuelled... three gallons should see 80-90 miles, minimum... but unless you knoiw what the range was before hand, it's pure guesswork :-\

Do ya feel lucky punk? Well do ya?  ;D
He who has never run out of fuel in virtually every vehicle he's had clearly isn't trying....   :-[
I suspect it has tendency to destroy the fuel pump and crank sensor on the Omega if you let it run low enough regularly, imhe :-X
Never had to replace a fuel pump on any car (except Rover 25, replaced under warranty by useless dealers), but may have changed the occasional crank sensor ::)

Done two pumps and one crank sensor (so far), which just goes to show how much the estates hate starting on a slight slope with low fuel levels :-X

Yeah, I'd forgotten about the Rover, and that was an edit afterwards. Wasn't due to abuse though, as it must only have been a year old...

My old 2.2 estate fuel pump failed....which was always low on petrol as it was LPG, but i put that down to the pump was constantly running, not pumping petrol anywhere  :-\

Replaced it with a 2.0 pump from a scrappy for about a tenner  :y

Half way thro' changing it.....i had a sudden thought....maybe it wasnt wise to be smoking at the same time  ::) ;D
