Handbrake
« on: 28 June 2014, 08:47:32 »

Lost all the  notches  on the handbrake lever after alternator fitted at garage it will go back to garage but in the meantime is it a simple fix. The hanbrake seems to work ok but no notches to hold it on.

Does the chrome plated button in the end of the brake lever still have decent spring pressure behind it when you press it in?

Sorted I recently had the car picked up by a rescue vehicle .At the time I noticed that the driver was applying my handbrake through the open window.I looked at the handle today and noticed that it was off centre bent towards the window he was using, I straightened it up and now it works ok. Why is it that you cannot trust anybody to do a good job these days .

They naturally end up towards the drivers seat, might even be sided. Be careful straightening it as you may crack the mounting... tis a fine line between in the correct place and the pawl missing the ratchet :-\
