Caught the back end of the first episode, probably on iplayer. Episode two, on now.

Fascinating. IMO. :y

.....and what is worse is that the 'gobby yank' is a woman. ;D

It's against the laws of nature for a woman to be in charge of a project as important as this.  :-\

Hopefully she won't be on the next episode as her bits done ::)

Civil engineering. Love it. Last week they where guiding a TBM through a gap between two other tunnels with about a foot either side for error. :o

Yep, and there was no less than THREE woman in managerial positions running various elements of the project shown to us, with no doubts others involved in the other elements.!! 8) 8) 8) :y :y  A great encouragement to girls still in school to consider engineering as a career.

There are so many of us who LOVE heavy engineering, and if I had my life again I would join the ranks of being a female engineer building the huge projects of this world, like Crossrail. :) :) :)

It was also enlightening to hear that around 200 young engineers are cutting their teeth on this project, as stated following in the footsteps of I.K. Brunel, who as a young engineer, with his father helped build the first Thames Tunnel.

This documentary is certainly fascinating, and just highlights how us Brits can still do it!! :y :y
