exhaust flexi pipe repair

Hi chaps. My car is undriveable the flexi joint has completly come away, i have the two pieces of the car my queston is if i get a repair kit how will they no what posistion to weld it in? :y

The approach I take is offer the two broken parts together (its normally pretty obvious due to the jagged state of the break) and then mark the exhaust to provide some alignment marks.

Then cut the old flexi off preserving the tube section to which it is welded (requires some cutting and a little grinding).

Offer the repair piece up and tack weld.

Check the alignment then seam weld.
