If Kia are able to offer 7 years then why are Vauxhall only offering three years?

No doubt the accountants stepped in and made it clear it was financially not viable, with a long term liability that could simply cost millions.

A good example of how the marketing boys and girls can get carried away and not take into account the financial implications of their offer. ::) ::) ::)

Such examples have brought companies down. :P :P

Problem was the non transferability of the warranty. It was a mistake to launch and only offer to original owner.

However, when we bought the Insignia with 7k on clock it did inspire the dealer to offer free of charge a further 2 years warranty on top of the 3 years that the Lifetime warranty defaults to on change of owner. I suppose a lot of people buying used VX get a bit pissed off at the loss of warranty and that feedback has prompted the change. Few people other than people like me keep their cars for such a long time.

A typical example of piss poor communication and management then......

Still, the country is a changing place and a huge percentage of the population see a car as something akin to a kitchen appliance (although it must have a 'prestige badge') that shouldn't have a penny spent on it for three years then be thrown away ready for the next one that can do half a mile more per gallon and is 10p cheaper to tax.

People have little trust in warranties anyway. I guess the life time warranty didn't increase sales the way they wanted. So then why continue with it...?

so so true for many - but those people do bring some decent cars to the market for others who cannot afford new or prefer not to get into the long term finance deals which have attractive low payments but big balloon payments at the end

How right you are VXL, and I was only saying something similar yesterday to a friend who was wondering why I loved a 11 year old car and was prepared to "invest" in her to make her last for the rest of my driving life. Co-incidentally I went to my local Kent County Council recycling centre yesterday and saw yet again what people now throw away often as it is simply "out of fashion".  The war generation still alive must be so confused, with the dead ones spinning in their graves! :o :o :o

TVs are a good example of that ........ there's usually a container full of fully functioning CRT tellys & PC monitors that have been replaced with the new flatter/thinner models
