coolant level sensor
« on: 09 October 2014, 18:37:12 »

hello, 2.6 v6. the information screen shows, 'check coolant level', i have, it was fine, gave it a top up anyway. i checked fuses but i dont think there is one for the coolant level sensor so i want to change the sensor itself, if that dont work i take it to garage. however i dont know where that sensor lives!!, ive checked out the other places on here and ive found out about the sensors under the plenum but im sure the level sensor would be easier to get to. could someone advise me on where i find it please. many thanks, les.

Fitted to base of expansion tank. Can be removed (sometimes) but a lot easier to purchase replacement tank from VX, around £40

Try sticking your finger in the expansion tank (when its cold) and waggling the float thing. Worked for me and has lasted 18 months so far. :y
