Sadly have to agree that this outcome was rather inevitable.Deepest sympathy to his family.Really ,really galls me that those who commit such atrocities when caught demand-and are given-their human rights,what humanity do they ever show to anyone else?For my money they've forfeited any and all rights!

As civilised people, any response must be seen to be measured, proportionate and civilised.

Not sure that nuking half of Syria fits any of those criteria, but equally doing nothing serves no purpose either

My deepest sympathies to the family and friends of this good man, whose only error was to try to help people in need, the majority of whom were Muslims.

How to respond? Firstly we should stop giving them the credit for being a "State", but all reporting of them should read:"The terrorists who style themselves Islamic State...etc."

Secondly, history teaches us that air power alone will not defeat them, but as our armed forces have been cut to levels of lunacy, we can only act in concert with others, and to achieve unanimity on a decision to put 'boots on the ground' will, I fear, be like trying to herd cats.

I'm all for the Diplomatic method of resolving disputes.  If where possible, it should be the ONLY way.

However;

This fanatical group who call themselves IS are a severe danger to the entire world.  The only language they speak is violence.  Not the 'nice' violence used in the past of holding hostages to ransom.... oh no, there bastards mean business.  They are beheading people left, right and centre.  They are raping women.  They are evil.

How does a civilised group of nations deal with such an atrocity?  Well, we are currently using low level air strikes (I'm guessing in an attempt to scare IS).  It will never work, and our leaders know this.  What will happen, I am adamant, is a full force ground infiltration which will destroy IS.

I'm just very glad I am not in Power....... I'd be meeting with Mr Obama and orchestrating a Nuclear strike!
