I wonder if a lot of these sensors aren't basically all the same, just with slightly different fixings and connectors. The crankshaft sensor, isn't it basically a coil of wire that is energised by an AC signal and picks up when the crankshaft is close?. You might find that all Crankshaft sensors are the same but with different connectors. If Vaux have an engine management system all designed and working fine, they aren't going to change it just because its a larger/smaller engine size (if it ain't broke, don't fix it). They may change connectors, so you have to buy new bits, but underneath they may be the same guts. Looking at LPG systems, they seem to recon that Lambda sensors output tends to be about 1V for correct combustion, this seems to be common across the range. Wouldn't it be fun if you could use sensors from across the range for the same job, eg the cheap Crankshaft sensor instead of the expensive one   ;)

I don't know about the other two, but the one they gave me is longer.

Update:  It looks like Autovaux lost my order and never sent the parts.  >:(  They are still checking.

That is unusual for Autovaux - the reason I recommend them is that they are reliable and cheap...  >:(

Just called VX again.  They don't stock the other sensor and won't even order it unless I pay in advance!  WTF?!?

Autovaux said they'd call me right back over an hour ago, off to talk to them again . . .

Autovaux sent the parts out, but to the wrong person.  I had never ordered from them before, and they had someone else with a simlar name, so in the rush to get them out sent them to the wrong 'T. Lodian'.  Oh well.  :(  Sending out another batch today.

This is really starting to get annoying having my car sitting on the side of some random street in the city.  Tomorrow is a Holiday and we're having friends over, but I have to go to Cov to tear out the scuttle and fix the miggy so that we can get groceries for dinner tomorrow.  Not how I wanted to spend my Holiday, especially since the &*%$&% thing broke last week!  >:(

Cheers!  It's the stupid things that can bother you so completely.  It's been 10 years since I had a car that wouldn't start for almost a week.  That was a bad ECU that kept saying the crank sensor was bad!  This time it's simply because I can't get parts for one of the major local car brands?!  Hello twilight zone!  If this had been the states with an American car, I would have had that part on Saturday.

Then I need to get groceries and clean up around here.  Need the chest of drawers that is in the trunk of the car, and the whole reason we went to Cov that day in the first place!  ARGH!!!
