Sounds good to me, its another set of names to add to the 'dont offer help and advice list'  ::)

Like I said, just an observation on my part. I was trying to get to NCSL on Triumph Road, but it doesn't exist apparently.

Well I know where Triumph Road is....

It's the bits around there that it doesn't know. Never mind.

Incidentally, I saw that big tower thingy that was on the news. Doesn't look much yet but it's stll surrounded by a building site.

Lol, ripe for a phone mast that is, can see if from where i work (4 miles away!)

They built a 10m high concrete base to stop the students climbing it.....yes right, like thats goning to stop them (it wouldn't have me!)

Tom tom hates Nottingham too!!!
After dropping Jimbob and mr DTM off in the town centre it tried very hard to take me home down every sodding bus lane!
Come back maps all is forgiven!
Couldnt even wind the window down to ask directions cos someone removed my door cards!

That was a close one, thought I was going to get the blame for that one for a minute!

The satnav in ours has a womans voice so I instantly know that it probably does not know where it is going!  ;D

I went down to Bristol last weekend.  Set the address in the Omega satnav before I started.  Reckoned I could navigate to the M4/M32 junction without assistance - and I did.  Turned on the satnav at that point and guess what happened?

That's it! You're absolutely right - absolutely nothing happened.  The only option available was "Standby".  So I turned off the M32 and ended up in a place called Easton - at first sight, a definite "lock the doors and go awy quickly" venue - didn't stop for a second sight, so apologies to any locals if I failed to appreciate the true charms of the area.

Anyway, restarting the satnav, didn't help, nor did restarting the car - you can tell I work with computers, can't you?  Tried to remove the disc, but it wouldn't come out.  Gave up and followed the road signs and got there easily.  Subsequent investigation (i.e. Please read the manual) established that you need to push the eject button twice to get the disk out, which I did.  After that it worked, but it was a bit too late by then.

In nearly 3 years, I reckon I've had more failures than successes with that machine.  Mind you, it's still far better than the wife's map-reading and it doesn't argue quite so much. :)

Yes, but try obeying a small electonic Gizmo whilst ignoring SWMBO and you'll be in a world of grief.

"Why's it taking us this way?"
"Why didn't it go right there?"
etc...

All perfectly reasonable questions that I could answer, of course - had I developed all the routing algorithms in the box and memorised all the map data. I bought a Tom Tom so I don't have to.  >:(

I've got that sorted - I turn off my hearing aids, turn off the satnav and concentrate on the road signs and the route I memorised before even getting in the car.

Now, if I could just find where the wife's off switch was located... :)

At my age, I've forgotten where that is.  In fact, I've forgotten what it is... :(

Here is a GPS for any '70's children' (so thats not me or You I'm afraid STMO). - A nightrider GPS that features the voice of KITT, newly recorded by original series actor William Daniels, and addresses you by your first name (from a list of hundreds of pre-programmed names)
