Veterans` Day
« on: 27 June 2008, 07:14:33 »

Just a little reminder that here in Great Britain, it`s Veterans` Day.....this date chosen to commemorate the first investiture of the Victoria Cross (V.C), although not a public holiday; spare a moment to be appreciative to those whom served and gave selflessly so we might awake each day in freedom.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Personally i think that we should never be allowed to forget what people have done for the freedon of this country, however if you ask children about veterans day they will look at you with a vacant stare  >:(

They aren't taught this sort of thing in school anymore, i have already primed my daughter to ask the teacher what veterans day is and why do we have it........her teacher hates me  ;D

I take my hat off to anyone who has been in conflict and defended our rights or the rights of those who were being wronged at the time.

Here here............

Youngsters, and I mean teenagers, have little or no understanding of what has gone on before to give them the freedom they have now........
I could have a rant about some of the young people, and how to sort them out by bringing back................................ but I won’t.
