Indoor mobile phone signal.
« on: 04 January 2015, 16:32:03 »

Over the last few months i have been insulating the house using pir foam insulation which is backed with silver foil.

House is warmer, downside i think, is the poorer network signal. All the network sims i have tried generally give the same result.

Any remedies you know of??

Yep, you've created a Faraday cage, I'm afraid.

Yep, but it won't cure you of being a radio amateur. ;) I've tried everything. ::)

I have an amp (*) for GSM and PCN frequencies which can help.

The idea was that it sat between a handset equipped with an antenna connector and an external antenna in a vehicle installation. It did actually improve things slightly in the early days of GSM.

(*) as it's 'technically' illegal to boost the signal, all this device actually did was cancel out the quite considerable losses in the coax cable.
