Good Evening All, I have bought a few bits from GSF car parts over the weekend and got the delivered today. I ordered 929SA0030 and apparently it is the coolant temperature sensor, ive had a look at the pictures at the back of the head on here and it looks like i have only got the brass coloured bit for the dash sensor but nothing else was on there i also found a spade connecter hanging around that area as well so i assumed this part that i ordered would bridge the gap and allow me to get a temperature reading but what they have sent be looks like the actully sensor that screws into the head. Should there be another bit that goes onto the brass coloured sensor?

Spade slides onto temp gauge sensor... what you have there is either a cam or crank sensor

Moral of the story only by genuine sensors from a genuine Vauxhall dealer that you genuinely have to go into

The female spade fit over a slot in the end of the sensor (not visible in this end on pic), there's a short wire from this terminal to the loom connection, which could well be a male spade connection

Thats the picture i was looking at before and all i can feel is the sensor just as its shown there thats why i thought the connecter is the one shown on GSF. Would i have to get the female spade connector part for the sensor from vauxhall or does anywhere else do them. Also thanks very much Al

There should be a wire dangling down the back of the engine if its not on the sensor... might not need a new sensor at all

I did check as much as i could and found the male part of the sensor and there was a bit of broken plastic attached to it when i first found it so i can only assume it had been broken of before when another job had been done on it.

Is that broken piece attached to the engine loom?

Yes the male connection is fine and attached to the loom but there was a piece of plastic stuck to one side of it

Definitely not a CTS. . . Check out my guide on fitting one in the maint. Section

Possibly a clip? Take the broken end, fit a new female spade to it and job's jobbed

1.Before hand, touch the bare end of the wire to the gauge sender and have an assistant turn ignition to pos 2. If the engine is warm (but not hot)when you do this the gauge should register.

2.Alternatively, touch the loose end to earth and the gauge should go to max and put the coolant temp light on

1. confirms the sensor and gauge works, 2. only confirms the gauge works, but is easier to do...
