Immobilizer 2.5DTI/Y25DT vs EWS3 BMW M57.
« on: 03 April 2015, 10:08:49 »

Hi!

Is there anyone her who know if Opel is also using the same as EWS3 in Omega with Y25DT/M57 engine? I've noticed that there are no EWS3(as it is on the BMW) box in the Omega, only the "usual" immo thingy on the steering column.

I'm doing a M57D30 24V diesel converion in a 96' Steinmetz 2.5TD 12V, using a 03' 2.5DTI as a donor for the wiring and mountingparts, and engine from a BMW X5. Everything is done except the wiring(will get professional help for that).

The guy that are going to help me insists to use immo emulator to eliminate problems with wiring the immo, and that OK for me, but I'm actually not sure that the systems are the same on the BMW an Opel. Cant find anything that says that they are working on the same way, and therefore I'm thinking maybe emulator for BMW dont work for me.

Anyway, the ECU's on both is the same(EDC15C4).

Sorry for bad English.

Post 1996 Omegas - IE, those with RF remote keyfobs rather than Infrared keyfobs - have the keys programmed to the immobiliser ECU (around ignition switch), and immobiliser ECU is programmed to engine ECU.

There is no separate immobiliser relay, as you get with 1994 -1996 cars.

Thats what i tought to. Mine is remote on both.
But wonders if there are the same working principes on Opel's immo, as on the BMW EWS3, since the ECU's is the same platform.
