Was i conned?
« on: 05 July 2008, 13:16:57 »

On thursday, my water pump had a problem and was leaking so i called a mechanic and he said he would come out the next day.
So the next day, he came out with a brand new water pump costing me £80 apparantly from a bmw garage. In the end, cost me £120!!!! :o :'(

What i want to ask is why did he get a brand new pump before he came out and even had a look.
Also, how do i know it came from a bmw garage, there was no box, just the pump. :-/

What do you think? :-/

While on the steeper side, £120 fitted is not a con if it includes fitting and it's fixed your problem, TBH.

The water pump went on my 24v Senator while towing along the front at Hastings. Green Flag recovered me to the site we were heading to. The recovering garage, knowing they had me by the gonads offered to take the car away for repair. Not surprisingly I said yes, considering I was some way from home. The bill was £170-something. That was summer 95!

£120 doesn't seem too bad!

£120 seems just about reasonable.
