2.5TD leaking oil onto auxilliary belt
« on: 05 May 2015, 17:56:40 »

Have a curious oil leak in vicinity of alternator, spraying onto front of alternator, top of belt and top-left corner of rad. can't see where it's coming from with engine running.

It's typical used black engine oil colour and smell, so don't think it's water, ATF, PS fluid or anything other than engine oil.

Any ideas?

Thanks, mc9

Not many options, unles timing chain cover is leaking.  Clean it all up, and then investigate

Okay thanks.

Not much I can do if timing cover is leaking.

I suspect egr connection to plenum chamber. Looks as if oil is dripping into airflow behind radiator and blowing back onto alternator and generally getting spread around by turbulance. Connector hose is very hardened.

Also stripped thread on the front hose clip. Anyone know where to source a similar clip? Not a Genuine part but a generic clip of correct size. Screwfix, B & Q or somewhere similar?

Thanks, mc9
