Which solvent?
« on: 07 July 2008, 17:46:55 »

Hello peeps, I have a problem. I'm trying to clean up a naviatin copmpass without much success. it's quite plastic bodied and quite old. the problem is about ten years ago to stabilise it in use I modified it using self adhesive foam rubber strip ( a bit like giant self adhesive draught excluder) now I need to remove the glue residue which is prooving difficult. Th solvents I have tried so far are meths, white spirit, petrol and  acetone, the latter  which actually started to attack the plastic  :o. Can any one advise what to use be it solvent or otherwise.
TIA Tony

Plain`ol WD-40 works a treat!....soak well into the adhesive residue and it should come off cleanly when rubbed firmly.

Maplin sell cans of "sticky label remover" which might be worth a try if all else fails. Has worked for me.
