Can someone help out a not-quite-with-it bear
« on: 02 June 2015, 21:41:11 »

Sai removal.

I asked this question ages ago and I know I need to block off the pipes coming out the exhaust manifolds. Got some plumbers end stops that fit. Great.

However what I didn't ask was this. . .

Where I disconnect the tube from the air injection valve. . . Do I blank this off also?

Soz guys but it's been a real long day   :-*

You need to plug the tappings in the exhaust manifolds to prevent the exhaust gases leaking out.

There is no need to plug the air pipes from the SAI fan/pump.  :y

If you ditch the plumbing don't forget to fit a resistor instead of the solenoid valve and plug the vacuum pipe,

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply.

So to plug the pipes/ fittings coming out of the manifolds (where the SAI pipe running across the front of the engine connects to each side) I was going to put a couple of plumbers end stops in the rubber pipes and jubilee them up...I'm sure that's what was recommended last time. Then ditch that pipe. is that ok?

I was then going to unplug the fan.

And then either leave the fan and solenoid in place or ditch it depending on how hard I fancy working.

is that all ok?

Re the vacuum line coming in to the SAI valve....what's the best way of blanking that off as they're stupidly thin lines  :-\

Easiest option is to block off the SAI pipes (coming from exhaust manifold) at the rubber joins near Aux tensioner and A/C compressor. Then remove the one way valve pipework. Solenoid has to remain in place. Pump can be removed, but only if worrying about weight.
