My estate had 63k on it when I bought (120 odd now) it and I still think doesn't run as well as my 177k saloon did
Admittedly my 2.6 was bought as a project and some of the work that has been done on it has been for piece of mind rather than required but, I'm convinced it (an 03 plate) wasn't put together as well as my 3.2 (a 52 plate).... also it's clearly had a tougher life in the past. The costs getting the 2.6 right are three times that of the 3.2 :(

So the question is... do I put a 3.2 in it in the future or do I knock on the chaps door up the road who has a black 3.2 on the drive that hasn't moved in two years and possibly put in an offer?  ::)

Yep. :y
That be a faster Black one. You've gotta talk to him. Whooooosh faster black one one the drive
Hmmm, my silver one is far faster than my black one!

I bought my 3.2 with 42,000 and in the first year it needed cambelt/waterpump, brakes, battery and exhaust (it was the original GM item which I replaced prematurely  :'()

By the time I had sold it (after 4 years) it had cam covers (not really required) SL shocks, wishbones, donut bushes, tyres (one was 6-7 years old!) and diff pinion seal. Nothing out of the ordinary IMO

I am thinking that wishbones/donut bushes would be a real problem. That was what killed my 2.5 in the end.

oil coolers, cambelt, cam covers. rear shocks, exhaust, battery are service items/consumables.

Might have to have a rethink.

Pity all the Spanish 2.5 DTi's seem to have stellar mileage.

How hard is it to buy one in France/Germany/Holland/Belgium etc and register it in Spain?  :-\

Easy enough on paper. just pay and go through the processes. Costs about £400 to £500 including the taxes.

What is harder is locating a car, going and looking at it and then going to fetch it back. That could cost £500.

Then I am still left with a car that could eat up front tyres and no WIM.

That's the bit I was wondering about and it seems like an expensive process. I guess that £400-500 is made up of registration fees, import duties and VAT. Whatever happened to the single market?  ::)

It is expensive. made up of taxes on transfer (buyer and vendor) usually all paid by buyer. It is why the S/H car market is so small here.

Single market. Yes I agree it is a mess regarding cars..

So even within Spain it's an expensive business buying and selling cars?  ::)

My Uncle has a place near Valencia and keeps an old GB Mondeo there, and he brings it back every year for it's MOT and then off it goes back to Spain.  It's always seemed like a massive faff to me, but he's always maintained that it's much cheaper to do it that way.  :-\

From what I've seen with imported 2.5l diesel Omegas into Ukraine, they seem to have come from Germany.

Presumably a grey area regarding the definition of origin... Is it the country of manufacture or is it the last country of registration?
