Modern cars and internet connectivity.
« on: 08 August 2015, 12:01:17 »

I've been hearing rumours that important parameters of modern cars, such as braking and acceleration, can be hacked with potentially fatal consequences.

Tesla and Jeep have been mentioned.

Any truth in this?

Anything actively on a network is hackable from within the network. If that network happens to be the internet......

It would appear that a demo was done controlling some of the systems onboard a Jeep from the Internet.

I have a good idea for those who wish to be rid of their wife wife or husband

Take out life insurance  then pay somebody to hack into the braking system on the car they are driving.

After the fireball has been extinguished simply collect on the insurance. :)

If you use the phone while your car has been hacked, make sure you are using a approved hands free kit with voice activation or you will get 3 points on your licence  ;)

That's if you survive the crash and fireball that is  :D :D :D

We are now starting to see Onstar coming in, the new Astra K will be the first new model to have it as standard.
Will be interesting to see how it plays out, in the US there ate millions of users and works very well and I haven't heard of it being hacked, its been available for years in the US so I would think if anyone was going to do it they would have done so be however
