2w 501 bulbs.
« on: 19 August 2015, 20:48:56 »

Has any one got any ideas where to find a supplier of the above, these are the bulbs that go into the rear of the dash cluster,I thought I'd get some spare ones. I've ordered some of the coloured plastic base bulbs orange and green ones as there seems a serious amount of those bulbs in the cluster that could fail.Just recently Al changed a couple on the MV6, one being the handbrake warning light and the other was the sport mode icon. I don't want to go down the LED route as there's various problems that come with them ::)I think you can get 3w 501's but I don't know wether they would be OK.. TIA :y

Are they the capless ones that go in the yellow holders? If so, I *think* I may have got some from Hellfrauds, but would have been a fair while ago.

Yes they're the ones, plenty of LED's but as Al says they are not suitable for this application,I'll certainly take a look at Hellfrauds and I'm wodering wether the 3w ones would suit....a tad brighter I know, but they can be dimmed in theory :-\

LEDs are shite in an Omega dash due to narrow beam of an LED.

I also believe that they can't be dimmed properly :-\

As daft as it sounds try Amazon, I recently got a pack of ten 501`s in the holders for the price of two from Hellfrauds, depends if you need them in a hurry.

I wouldn't use 3W personally because the extra heat could melt the plastic in the dash.

Nitro, I can't check the ones I purchased because the seller has closed his shop. I think these are what your looking for

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-2w-BX8-4D-Green-base-Dashboard-Indicator-Panel-Bulbs-R509TMGR-Pack-of-10-/261300477987?hash=item3cd6b8e023

I seem to remember that  509TMGR BX8.4D in the listing is important.

Double check first. I hope this helps.  :y
