Car been losing small amounts of coolant since I bought it 18 months ago topping it up every 3 weeks or so. I can see small amounts in the troughs at the bottom of the engine on both sides. Assumed its HBV as it was also dripping down back of engine when I did a coolant change with heaters full on

Today after short journey I noticed it was running off the front right hand trough of the engine so cleaned off with tissue but filled up again (car was on level surface) Could see the coolant being disturbed by a drip just back a bit from above its the right hand trough at bottom of engine in picture.



Any idea what this would be Water pump? Core plug? Seems to have been leaking for a while to be a water pump but that is from experience of other cars.

Any help appreciated

Also if it is water pump is it worth getting cam belt done at same time (2 years since last change) or is it only worth doing the other way around, water pump if doing cam belt

Sounds like hbv is leaking and water pump.
If you have no history with the car regarding, cambelt changes and coolent changes then, yes change cambelt and water pump, pump,can be changed without doing cambelt, but buy the time you've accessed water pump,might aswell do cambelt aswell.

Could be water pump and/or HG, you wont know until you strip the timing belt off and take off the rear plate.  HG on these engines is pretty straight forward with the right tools

True but not unheard of, depends on whether water has been used instead of antifreeze mostly

Hopefully it's the water pump, as suggested need to strip cover off to see what's what

Also ends up there if you have a weep from the front of the oil cooler plate. Don't ask me how I know that

Has it had thermostat work recently?

Could be that the lifting eye wasn't refitted and the transfer pipe has worked loose? Any play evident in the top hose where it's heads towards the battery...

No thermostat work done recently . Temp gauge is constant though and never goes above 90.
