Mine the lock is in a door pocket and I open it by sticking my finger in the hole and pushing the catch down. I hope to address this one day, as I think I may have a spare glovebox (I sometimes wonder why I save this crap!).

The lock is still attached  so can't put finger in to open it (did that for months once over)
I put a CD case in and it wouldn't quite shut so I pushed a little harder now it won't open
Thought there maybe a common solution to getting inside while the lock/lever is still in place but NOT locked

Sounds like the old bonnet won't open situation where I have left a spanner or something under the bonnet so it has jammed. Solution there is have SWMBO sit on the centre of bonnet above the latch, releasing the pressure on the latch, then the bonnet pull can release the latch. Try pushing the glovebox even more firmly shut, then work the release and it may open.

Yes try an upward pressure whilst releasing.
