Many would argue against, but I've got two spare idlers taken from scrap cars (and will keep getting them). Both genuine GM, and I know how many miles they have done. In theory, both have over 30k miles left in them, and they were freebies with other car bits bought at the time.  :)

A good genuine second hand part is going to be better than a pattern  :y

That's my logic  :y I buy genuine new GM when I can. If pattern, then recommended tried and tested only. And always happy to fit used, but good genuine GM as the best cost vs. longevity solution.  :)

The good thing with the Idler Arm is that on a scrap car, you can really get a good idea of how much life is left in it.  The access is superb to get a pry bar in and give it some welly.

I'd certainly prefer a used GM part to the shite that is out there, new.
