Road trip report
« on: 02 October 2015, 22:07:38 »

I've been on the road for 8 days with my 3.2L Omega, driving on european highways and letting it stretch its legs. On Autobahn I wanted to see how much it could muster and I got up to 215 kph and it had more to give. Unfortunately my wife didn't like that and I had to slow down. I felt like Richardo Patrese when he drives his wife around Jerez in a Honda:

Anyway this 15 year old car that turned over 330.000 km on this trip is just fabulous to drive, it is quiet and comfortable. You can drive all day without being tired. We drove 3250 km and I had to fill on litre of oil after 2750 km, not bad for such an well used car. The 3.2L engine is really good and strong, no problem to accelerate from 160 kph to 190 kph to stay away from Fritz in his Merc or BMW coming from behind in over 200 kph. Comfortable cruising speed on Autobahn is 160 to 170 kph.

I just love these cars, it's my third one and I would have another one after this one, they are hard to find now but some are still out there. I saw only one other briefly during this whole trip from my home in Sweden to Hamburg, then to Luxembourg, to Antwerp and a stay in Amsterdam, back to Hamburg and home again.

Good to hear.  :y I think that the fuel would have been cheaper too which would be a joy!

Has your car got the auto folding mirrors?
