What's it worth?
« on: 01 October 2015, 15:34:37 »

What's it worth, and would anyone be interested.

A mate's got a MFL Elite, full black leather, with the mobile phone stereo in it, all the toys, Xenon, electric everything, etc. MV6 black leather interior. V6 of course, high mileage (about 200k if memory serves) but well looked after, he's a mechanic by trade, he does my MoTs. Had bodywork done on it, very clean back arches. Pretty clean, overall just a few small raggedy bits, average to good condition for an 18 year old car.

Are we in 2-300, or 4-500 territory? No pics, sorry, I know, that would help.  ::) Just testing the water at this point.

Assuming anyone interested on here realistically would be looking to break it. I see gtstylebaby still has his MV6 black leather interior on the heebay at (I think a very reasonable/cheap) £120, which doesn't bode well for my mate's car, really, as I'd have thought they are in a bit of demand, same for the radio/mobile phone setup, they don't seem to be particularly wanted.

As we are a dwindling band of brothers, it follows that demand for Omegas and Omega parts will dwindle as well....  :(

years test on it, I reckon or being an mot man he'll probably slap a year on it on request, after a look over.

I think 3.0, yeah, will have to check it's not the TD or anything.  :)

Possibly £6-750 if clean, fresh ticket counts for alot as it means a years hassle free motoring in theory. Only problem is finding a buyer...

Exactly.  :( If you find a buyer, then it's worth that. Of course I can bang it on ebay, and it goes for £100, that's that, sadly. If someone on here wants it, realistically they'd want to break it. But break for what?

<£120 Interior, full black leather MV6
£30-50? Mobile phone stereo, Bose etc
£free-30 5 spoke Elite Alloys, depends what rubber's on them. probably 2mm of ditchfinders  ::)
£40 Xenons
£100 engine
£50 AR35
£20 suspension air pump - if present
£50 for the scrap shell

That's about £425 a bit either way. Theoretically a bit more there may be the odd trim/badge/odd n sods that someone would want etc. At that money, break it and keep any bits myself that I may need in the future. Though it'd be a great shame to break a perfectly good MoT'd car.  :(

Hmm 50/50 with it

Now all I need is the money, and somewhere to put it. Apart from that, we're there...  ;D

Why is he selling ?       ask him if wants another Omega . . . if so I  would consider a swap for my '53 plate 3.2 Black MV6 with

leaky rear crank oil seal ( he'll soon fix that ) IF  his MFL is a 3.0.

Always considered my first omega , a 3.0 MFL Elite , the best of the 7 I have owned

I'll definitely mention to him. Basically, long story short, he has a whole yard full of cars, from Taxis, to almost bare scrap shells, some weird and wonderful stuff, some of it American V8 stuff. Anyway, he's downsizing, so the idea of another Omega will probably be out, only for breaking it as parts, which would be a great shame.

I'll definitely ask him is he'd be interested in a 3.2, though (and check it's  3.0) :)
