CD70 Navi problem.
« on: 10 October 2015, 18:29:49 »

Put simply I have no TMC function.

My Disc is dated 2012/13.

I have found the original disc from 2006/7 which does have TMC function.....so why not on the newer disc?

Do I have any way of knowing about traffic delays with the newer disc?

According to the Vectra C boys some copied Ebay discs loose the TMC facility.

My 2012/13 disc does appear slightly 'iffy'.....not as authentic as the 2006/7 disc.

Copies don't have it. That's pretty much it.

Later discs also lose the postcode search for some reason.

That's why I've stuck with the older disc

Also don't try and update firmware with a copied disc, I did once and nearly bricked the system, luckily having a second go with a genuine disc solved the problem

TMC is a commercial exploit in the UK, so the disc needs special decryption techniques and keys to prove you have bought the service.

The ones posted up on well known satnav sharing sites often lack this, hence no TMC.

TBH, anybody buying copied satnav CDs from ebay is pretty daft :P

Tis true. :-\

However the original 2006/7 disc doesn't have it either. :-\

Don't they have the "partial postcode"/5 digit postcode that Phillips/Conti came up with (CD70 is a Phillips derived unit?)
