Being a 2.2 I would check that water from the scuttle or oil leaking from the rocker cover has not got into the plug wells first.

Thanks I'll check that out is this a common problem on these, I've only had the car 2 weeks,
It starts first time but unless I give little  revs it struggles to pick up and tick over,  is almost like a miss fire,  is only for 53000 miles,  but like I say one warm all runs sweet

I've had two 2.2's previously and both suffered from water leaking from the scuttle onto the top of the engine eventually getting into the plug wells causing the misfire.
One also leaked oil from the the cam cover due to a perished seal which also entered the plug wells.
If all is dry in there, I would suspect the coil pack which you have to remove to check the above. I known good used one is obviously a lot cheaper than new. A new set of plugs is also a good idea - four genuine GM plugs are quite cheap and worth changing at the same time.

You need to get a code reader on it really, perhaps Webby near you could assist with this.

Check basics like plugs, but if they are all ok the cam sensor is a favorite to fail on the 2.2  :)
