Not having a bottle handy, what's the recommended timeframe to leave it in for, prior to said oilchange? Or will no damage be done if left in for 1000s of miles?

Pop it in with fresh oil and forget about it...

Ah, fair enough. Was concerned that it would need to come out within a few hundred miles, and the way things are at present, with the best will in the world, something will come up, and I won't get chance until April! 

Might chuck some in over the festive period, can't hurt, as they say.

Wynns lifter treatment is a good product which does work.  As said lob it in and forget about it

Do not use engine flushers on modern engines - best way to "flush" is a couple/few oil and filter changes over a low mileage.
