Big thank you to Al for sorting out my boot so that I can actually open it now.  Also for supplying the new bumper.

Forgot about that charge relay/loom for the auxiliary auxiliary power supply ::)

Had an additional thought re popping that corner of the wheel well out... Fence post and a modest bottle jack/small trolley jack could be used to good effect ;)

Bottom NS corner of the rear panel/wheel well join is in about an inch... But also rather rusty, possibly previous issues, (bumper has a skim of filler on it)...

Rear panel top seam is about 3mm nearer the dash than when it left factory, with a marginal biw of the NS quarter... But door panel gap wasn't measured pre prang. Obviously. So might have always been that way, certainly front seam in the door sut doesn't look damaged.

Tailgate apperature is square... Diagonals are even and width is cock on too...

In all, bumperand crash bar did their thing, and tailgate obviously took a kicking... Tailgate actually opened from inside at first attempt 8) took some gentle persuasion to get it toopen from the out side though ;D

Indeedy ;)

Frustrating when the assessor can't be bothered to check properly just because it's an old car... Ok the tailgate and bumper shell would have made it a Cat C in parts alone, but not much of an assessment if you don't actually assess the extent of the damage ::)

But he did check properly: it wasn't a viable repair as an insurance claim. That's all he is supposed to do. And in the case of that damage to an Omega, he could do the job over the phone.

Understood, but they could simply say that rather than faffing around making you rearrange your life for them to come out to pretend to do summat that could easily be done remotely ::)
