Just looking now at the new range of Skodas don't half make so good cars now and darn quick ones too.  :y

Skoda have replaced VW in the I just want a decent quality sensible car at a reasonable price bracket(where the Golf always used to live) since VW decided that they were an almost premium brand and cranked their prices up.

VAG is the reverse of British Leyland; their badge-engineered cars are a properly integrated range, cleverly disguised by good marketing. Just look at how many people find it hard to believe that an Octavia is the same car as an A3.

Agreed, I dot see a single reason to buy a VW product now. Having looked at both when deciding to go with skoda, there was no way I could justify the price difference - unless there's some VW "quality"'that I'm too much of a heathen to see  ;D

On a separate note, I'm in Norway ATM and have been given the EXACT car we had as our second choice and rejected (mainly due to park assist only being available on the top model that's £200 PCM more!). The Nissan qashqai, same spec level, color, everything except with a manual box. After 400km in it in a single day, all I can say is boy I'm disappointed! Seats have no lumbar support, interior feels tacky, although it does have orange neon lights ::)

Really can't understand why we as a nation buy so many of the poxy things!

Yes Harris, I am aware it's all VAG underneath ;). I meant something specifically wearing a VW badge.

The company would have you believe they are a cut above skoda and command a premium because of it. What I meant was I don't see that premium over a skoda of lower price. Is comparing an Octavia to a golf.

Nice choice.  It fits your brief, so why not?

I had a 1.2TSI Golf as a hire car in Fuerteventura earlier in the year and I had a 1.6TDI Audi A3 a few weeks earlier.  I'd have the 1.2TSI over the Derv any day of the week (and fuel economy wasn't as different as many may think).

Both cars were shit, though.

I've never had a shot in the Yeti, but I hope it suits your needs well.  :y
