Breather box
« on: 28 March 2016, 17:54:14 »

Hi,

How essential is the rubber flap in the box and what's the purpose of it in the first place? Problem is the bloody dingi broke off as I was cleaning the box :'( And if it is a absolutely needed thing is it available somewhere, stealers? Part number?

I couldn't see that the flap could serve any useful purpose :-\

On my last car the breather box was so full of crap that I gave up trying to clean it and bought a new one. I cut he old one open and it is just a box with a baffle across the middle. I think the flap was just a part of the gasket - it might have worked as a one way valve for the first 1000 miles but it won't do anything once it goes hard.
