I ordered this cam belt kit last week. Supplier e-mailed asking car registration number, I told him. He replied saying it was the wrong kit, correct one would cost £98. I am puzzled. The picture looks Ok except it does not show the idler pulley. I still think all GM V6 kits fit all CM v6 engines. There are some variations in backplates and adjustable pulleys, but they fit.

3.2/2.6 had different back plates I think? Also 2.6/3.2 had no lower adjusters?

Yes, that sort of thing. But I can always use the existing back plate again. I recently used a 3.0 kit on a 3.2 and it went on all right, re-using the existing back plate. All that wears are the bulley bearings and the belt; they should all fit.

Yep. But they just use an EPC and "Computer says no!"

This silly man would not send me the kit, though I assured him it would fit my car. He said the right kit would cost £109. He refunded my money. There are lots of Gates kits about at £100. There is also this kit from Latvia, for a tempting £33, plus£9 postage. Picture is wrong, but compatible cars list is OK. Any comments?

That sounds very much like the kit I bought.Picture on e-bay showed Goodyear box,cost £44 odd* but was from Birmingham area and c
came with water pump.Kit that turned up was in fact Contitech.DLK fitted both cam belt kit and water pump this last Saturday morning.

* Kit advertised at £59 odd but had instant discount to take price to £44 odd.

Were the bearings SKF?

New backing plate[which Daz didn't use had SKF markings as did the bearings yes.

The kit I fitted to the 2.6V6 was a Gates that I got cheap, and was for a 2.5V6.  Fitted ok to the 2.6, just had to swap back plates (use the 2.6 back plate and fitted the new tensioner/roller).  Adjusted up ok and has covered around 15K miles without issue.

But all kits can be fitted to any V6 if you re-use the lower idler spacer (if there is one) and the back plate
