« on: 09 May 2016, 18:27:25 »

Saw a woman this lunchtime with a young lad in tow[presumably her son,but at very least she was responsible for him]they walked up the street passed the zebra crossing by about 5 yards and then crossed the road!! :o There's no wonder kids don't know how to cross a road safely these days >:(

I see this all the time down here in Wales but also in London. It's almost a form of arrogance, but I suppose it could also be pathological stupidity. Crossing the road terifies me. You just never know when some boy racer, or yummy mummy on the phone while driving, or even some demented Omega driver will come haring along.

The brakes are so poor on the 'old bus' that a fatality is almost inevitable. :) ;)

........especially if the driver has his eyes on the 'yummy mummy' :)

Try crossing the street in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), Vietnam!  :D

The trick is to walk slowly and steadily across and all the bikes will go round you!  ::)   If you suddenly freeze in terror or make a run for it, you're dead!!  :o  ;D

Not using the crossing cost my dad dearly. He was crossing a busy road when he was hit by a motorbike doing about 60mph, the speed limit was 30. He lost half his leg (no amputation needed) a big chunk of flesh out of his arse and ruptured his spleen.
When it came to court he was awarded nearly 40K but....because there was a pelican crossing 15 metres down the road, his award was halved.

You may think this was worth more than 40K, but I'm going back 20 years.

That's really shite thing to happen. But today I kinda think that the attitude is that "If you hit me, I'll sue, and get a pile of cash"

I take the view that one has to take a great deal of responsibility for one's own personal safety. Yes, if I get run over I may end up with squillions. Fat lot of good if I'm quadriplegic.

Yesterday, whilst about my business, a person walking along and doing the usual arsebook, idioter, etc goes to step off the pavement, I sound the horns to alert said person off my presence, why or how the can't see a 44tonne I don't know, guess what pedestrian did next,

Stuck two fingers up and shouted :o... ?
