Bit before I was born, sadly.

For a cheap day out (and part of the 'cheapness' has to be being nearby the thing in the first place) is Cadwell Park. They have any number of events of every year, from bikes, of course, but also went last year to this teriffic VSCC affair with loads of pre-war single seaters, really, really being thrown round the track, one did spin off, nearly rolled it, so nothing 'nanny' about it. Very cheap entry and anyone can walk round the 'pits' (just a pathway in grass with a road leading tot he track), natter with the owners/drivers.  8)

Love days out like that.  :y

I don't want it to come across as a silly / first world problems moan, it really was because we'd been promised something, and it really wasn't the case. It was literally impossible for it to have been any less visible for all. Very strange.  ???

BG, if you are interested, I have some slides of the Rainhill event "in a safe place" and will find them, scan them to digital files?.....

If the Rainhill trial was 1829 then the 150th anniversary would have been 1979  ;)
