Amazon are getting a bit greedy
« on: 19 September 2016, 19:47:15 »

I wanted a new wire rack for our grill pan. Amazon have the exact one ....£7.50.......+£3.50p&p.

Sod that, so looked further down the page and got the pan, tray and handle for £12.50 with free delivery. I know they've got to make money but they seem to be hammering the postage costs lately.

The cynic in me says its because they want to drive everyone towards a prime subscription.

We already have it and its saves us more in pet food than it costs. So the next day delivery (or same-day in some cases) and the TV offerings are all effectively free.  :y

I never thought about pet food, although I get 10% discount at Asda with the girlfriends work card.

TBH it only really works out if you have to buy specific brands, our mutt has skin issues which are aggravated if you feed her anything that costs less than about £25 a sack or has come from anywhere as sullied and common as a supermarket.   ::)

What I do like it for is that I don't have to traipse round looking for stuff that may or may not be there and because the delivery is free, I don't begrudge the postage on low value items as I would do buying from other online retailers. Finally, for me at least, working outside the UK 50% of the time, the video service is pure gold.

The £17 per month we spend on Amazon Prime and Netflix are the best value outgoings we have.
