battery light and immobiliser not disarming

Hi all im not sure if this is a common fault but for some reason recently when i hook the battery up before working on in the battery light comes on with out the keys in the ignition however the immobiliser is not disarming. There is nothing wrong with the igniton switch. any ideas? i believe that it is earthing somewhere it shouldnt be..

it might not be the problem but ive seen the hazzard switch do this. ive seen it on a few vauxhalls and there has been videos on youtube about it.
