Does anyone else find this series very chilling?

As an historian who dislikes "counter factual" history, this I must admit, is something else.

If you do the correct thing and place yourself in the context of a Brit ln England during 1941, how sure can we be that we would not have accepted the German presence as the new ruling power.

At this time you would not have known about any concentration camps, the Hollocaust would not have started, and in this scenario Hitler has not invaded Russia. You would know about the "positives" of Hitler as a man who had led Germany to greatness again (echoes of Trump) with full employment, new autobahns, and a impressive military. Could I have been impressed by all that? Would all the banners, flags, and propaganda have convinced me to support the Nazis?  I have always thought that as a German woman I would have stood with the other thousands shouting Heil Hitler!

As I am from a Jewish background on one side of the family I know that I would not have been born to the family I did, even though my father was greatly impressed by the German military. We know how terrible it would have been later for everyone if the Germans had won the Battle of Britain and crossed the Channel. BUT, in the context of the time, and perhaps as a Brit from a working class background who detested the ruling British classes, or someone from the middle classes who craved power, could I have joined the SS?

It is chilling just to see images of Nazis flags around London, but that is with the knowledge we have today. Highly intreging and interesting though.

Thank God it IS just counter factual history.

I've not seen the programme. However It's always very easy to be critical in retrospect. Easy to criticise the ordinary Germans who supported Nazisim. But what if . . . . .  As they say, hindsight is always 20/20.

Iam a quarter German (paternal grandfather), but obviously as a war baby I would have had no knowledge of the political situation, but I do recall during my early years that German engineering was held in high regard, especially cameras. I'm not sure what I am saying here or what conclusions I am trying to come to - justthinking aloud, I guess.....

Yep Lizzie I have watched this from the start..Found it to be a bit confusing at first trying to get my brain into gear as to who won the war...Find it to be as you say a bit chilling but very good watching material...I also thank my lucky stars that we did not grow up in those times  under such a regime as them as I was born in 1944 (old git now ) lol...So we must be gratefull that we grew up in this country as free people and thank goodness for all of those who fought and died and who were maimed and injured just so we could do so...would encourage others to watch the remaining 3 parts as it is well worth watching

Watched the first 20mins of the first episode (actually I recorded it it as was looking forward to it) couldn"t get into it, so didn"t bother acter that.

May be I should give it a second chance, gave that Sky West World a second chance then gave up again after 30 mins.

Wheres all the decent teley gone these days.

I've watched the first episode & enjoyed it.

Seems odd to have essentially the same subject as "man in the High castle", & released soon after. I enjoyed that as well, especially seeing the odd glimpse of the Nazi "Concorde" .....

Could have been more close to the truth than we like to think , IF Hitler had left Russia alone it would have been very different outcome

I've watched this from the beginning.It was a little difficult at first,until I could get my head in gear to accept the premise that Germany won the Battle of Britain etc.I find it very interesting and as you say rather chilling as to what might have been.

Don't know how far you've got with Westworld, but stick with it. Things become clearer (and bloodier) later on. I enjoyed it after a while.

Not a fan I`m afraid & i should think many a irate granny & granpa have kicked the telly

As a kid I can remember my great uncle telling stories of his days with the RN 
He was a junior officer with the home fleet & they hunted U-boats in coastal waters.

They saw a light signalling out to sea during the night off the Welsh coast.
The information was passed & the location was from somewhere near Gower.

Over a period of several weeks more lights & coded morse signals were detected.

Not sure if anything came of it  The next time they spotted the light  He can remember the First office trying to disuade the skipper from shelling the area
