Spotted in Switzerland
« on: 30 March 2017, 18:27:10 »

This week's work has taken me to a small village just outside Basel. The wether is good and as I'm largely done for the week I debunked at 5pm and have had a bottle or so of he local plonk on the sun terrace.

So far I've spotted a brace of those new Maserati 4x4's, Aston Martin DB9 and V8, 911s are two a penny, oh and someone who commutes in a bloody Ferrari Dino!

I've also spotted 3 Omega while I've been here, 2 estates and a saloon, no badges on any of them though  :-\. One was for sale at a dealer for the best part of 5,000CHF!

Anyone know how much 5,000CHF is worth? ;)

Yup.

Seems that Migs on the continent carry a similar value to the equivalent age 5-series do over here(or there, until tomorrow). UK badge snobbery has been the death of hem I think.

Just about any car in the continent is worth around 4x as much as they are in the UK.  ;D

Switzerland is one of the richest and most desirable countries in the world to live in, so no surprises on the number of up-market cars. :)

Never been but, from what I've heard/read, it seems a bit 'sanitised' to me.

I was in the south of France all this week - just got home. We took the Eurostar/TGV so as not to risk a DVT relapse - so spent a while walking backwards & forwards @ 200+ mph.

Didn't see a single Omega in the whole week, only real cars of note were the odd Ferrari in Nice and half a dozen Aston convertibles. Lots of Renaults I didn't recognise though - seems that they don't sell their full product range in the U.K. The new Espace looks fantastic.

Hard to say as I didn't really see anything of the cities (other than the bit by Zurich airport).

The scenery is exactly as you imagine though  8). Costs are ludicrous for everything other than your tax bill. Which is not that low for income but they have very little tax on capital gains and VAT is low.

I'm not sure if it's still the case, but when I worked for GM they had their European HQ in Zurich - so that's where the action was, I guess it must have been tax related. It also meant that Zurich was the "most important" place on the network even though there was no manufacturing there and comparatively little sales ......

I agree  :)
Saw one in Mallorca and thought that looks nice ,not available in the uk though(or no plans at the moment)
We did have a grand espace mark IV it was super comfy and quite a good drive, but this new one does look good and stuffed with toys.
