Rods2 and Migv6, if what you say is true, I am afraid; VERY afraid - the luntics have taken over the asylum! When will the world get back to spinning on its axis properly again?
Truly, we have changed very little, fundamentally, in our gender-specific roles despite our veneer of sophistication and caveman ethics still apply.
It's amazing how many fish need bicycles.....

I mentioned the hippies in my previous post as it "happened" at a time when everyone under 30 wanted a change from what had gone before as I described. The hippies went and is now correctly seen as a naive movement with naive ideals that simplified the implications of the changes we all wanted. But the aims of that movement, with love and peace and equality it's main themes, continued.
Now we are seeing the benefits of those changes, especially with us women now being able to hold senior business and political positions and the world moving on, although as always with sometimes painful events taking place. Do we really want the World to return to it's old position. When nations would readily go to war and create a World War situation with millions being killed?
So what if male and female roles are swapped, as in the Boat Race the subject of this thread. Does it matter? In the grand scheme of things it just helps the trend towards some form of equality, liberty and freedom. Bloody revolutions have happened before now to gain that kind of advance.
We need a World with colour and light, where it is not the black and white world that it was before 1965 (my estimation as a contemporary of when things started to really changed) We now welcome that we as women have the right to vote, to have a bank account and own property, unlike in previous decades. Of being able to work in many environments once excluded to women, and men having the rights they do at work and play. Anyone who wants the pendulum to swing back is wishing for something that must not happen. If it did it would mean we are going into a period of revolution as very few will accept the working conditions and class divides of the past. In fact it is the opposite; we must go forward and make the further improvements that humanity requires. We need strong government and upholding of tradition, but we also need good socialist principles mixed in to give our children and grandchildren the fair World we have been striving for for so long. That is why I am a Conservative Socialist.
