Joshua v Klitschko

Did anyone actually pay to watch the fight? I didn't bother because I thought it would be over before the fifth round. Kind of wish I'd paid up now, I listened on Five Live and the atmosphere sounded great.

Does anyone actually still watch boxing even if it is free? I studied the crowd leaving the event but failed to type cast a typical spectator. I never did get it but then I am still trying to fathom why people watch cricket and not many people get brain injuries in cricket.

PS well done our man and I believe he still lives at home with his mam. :y

In boxing terms Klitschko is older than time itself.

I thought he did reasonably well for an old man but the result was predictable.

When he was (is) training in Sheffield, he sits on a bench outside the town hall with his mates and talks to anyone. He is really grounded and, by all accounts, is a nice, friendly young man.

Shortly after I joined the RAF we were obliged to watch an exhibition match between a couple of RAF boxers who were top UK amateurs at the time. It was three rounds of merciless bloodying of each others faces. I thought it was an appalling spectacle masquerading as sport, and could not understand why, as civilised people, we were expected to take enjoyment in watching it, as if we were Romans in an ampitheater. Sorry I don't get it. :-X

A few pints of scouse skullcrusher and you'd kick the shit out of him. ;)

I was at work so couldn't watch it. But I'm not that bothered one way or the other. Wife and daughter both paid to watch it as they both love boxing. Daughter is a big fan of AJ, and has been to his previous big fights, but didn't go this time due to loss of job, and Wembley being so vast, almost everyone there would be watching the screens as they couldn't hope to see what was happening in the ring.
For me, boxing was Ali / Frasier etc. and its heyday is long behind it.

Occasionally go and watch a local boxing club fighting another club. Watching evenly matched fast lightweights can show some top boxing skills where it is like watching a game of 3D chess. :y

The thing with young amateur boxing is that they wear head protectors and it is nowhere near as brutal as professional boxing. :)
