Whats the charging model difference now?
Without Premium, its now unusable.

Up until recently, you could pay a charge for app and see all non-premium caches. Now the app is free, but to use the app for all but easiest caches, you need premium.  Granted, you could, if you're organised enough, print them off from the website at home, but most of my caching was always spontaneous.

Around the time this happened, I saw the drop off in activity on my caches, and notice hardly any new ones are popping up.

Obviously, Groundspeak need to make money to pay for the service, but I worry that they might have overcooked it.

I notice they changed mapping provider a while back, I wonder if the new default one is more expensive  :-\

Also, on iOS, the new (free) app is so hard to use compared to the, now defunct, old (paid) app.

Ok fair do's....

I seem to remember that they messed the apps up, the freebie one being better than the paid for one. So I guess they've just dropped the paid for one.

Maybe they were also trying to address the problem of muggles finding the caches and destroying them, which used happen a fair bit if they wernt set to premium.
Now its costs them money to find the caches they will less likely to do so.

I use the android version of the app, which imo, is pretty simple to use. My only gripe with it is , when using the compass, the screen blanks out after a short time. But theres probably a setting somewhere to keep the screen alive when either when using the compass or the app  :-\

What the F*** is this all about. I have a hard time keeping up with real life, doing what I really need to do on a day-to-day basis, without some not real but it's out there stuff. I don't want to hear about about how hard people are finding things.

Easy....Don't read or post on the thread then.....simples..  :)

Genuinely sorry about that. After re-reading, that really wasn't good and certainly out of order. I really should learn not to comment on forums late at night after a few glasses of wine. Apologies to all  :-[

Even the current free app is a poor substitute for the old paid for one. On iOS, it really is unintuitive, I'm surprised crApple like it through TBH.

Hi all.

There are a few different apps that may help with this issue.

if on adroid try c:geo
if on ios try Cachly or "looking4cache".

May show you much more the the low rated ones.

Shooting is reasonably effective...

TBH, they will mostly be very new to it or just plain arrogant... The guidelines clearly state not to go onto private land without permission  :-\

Mind you, walkers can be just as bad ::)

the plastic tube things were hidden 300yds from a public road,

the keeper started filling them with a present from his dog, finally removing them, and putting signs up.

In all walks of life, there are inconsiderate knobheads that need shooting.  Sounds like you found one of those.
