Not sure how it works but a few drivers were working Liverpool town center over the weekend with Coventry taxi plates, they were encouraged to leave the city sharpish by the local drivers I am informed.

And quite right too! IF the Coventry cars were plated as PH. If they were plated as Hackneys theres not much they can do about it.

Yep private hire plates
If they were there en masse for a single prebooked job ie relocating passengers from a diverted flight or for a cruise ship booking, then fair dos, but if they're actually working as hackneys, ie picking up willy nilly, then very illegal... as it invalidates whatever insurance they may have. Liverpool council and plod should be very interested in dealing with it, as should Coventry licencing authority :-\

And did they have Uber door signs or doors signs of a PH firm in Coventry?
